A weaving of ancient myth and song in celebration of the feminine as a guiding principle of care, renewal, and our deep connection with the natural world. ‘Ave Eva Durga’ celebrates the sacred feminine across cultures and time. Inspired by the Festival’s 2026 theme, ‘Songs and Stories’, four women artists come together in an improvisatory cross-cultural performance, blending medieval Western music, Indian classical traditions, Welsh folk song, chant, poetry, and storytelling.
From ancient goddesses and early Christian saints to the female divinities honoured by the diverse communities of modern Wales, the programme honours figures such as Eve, Mary, Brigid, and Durga. Once central to medieval Western music and still vital in Indian classical practice, improvisation shapes each performance in real time, inviting audiences into the creative process.
